Overview

Concrete Done Right, From the Base Up

Cardo Concrete pours flatwork and structural concrete for homeowners and small commercial property owners across Southern Maryland. From backyard patios and sidewalks to slabs, steps, and footings, we build on a properly prepared and compacted base so the concrete stays flat and crack-resistant for years.

Concrete is only as good as what goes under it. We take the time to excavate, grade, and compact the sub-base, set clean forms, and place the right amount of steel or fiber reinforcement for the job. Then we pour the correct mix, finish it the way you want, and control the cure so it hardens evenly.

Built for Maryland Weather

Maryland's freeze-thaw cycles are hard on concrete. Water gets into the surface, freezes, expands, and causes spalling and cracking. We use air-entrained mixes and correct water-to-cement ratios built for our climate.

Heavy rain and clay-heavy soils mean drainage matters. We grade and slope flatwork to move water away from your home and foundation, and we compact the base so it doesn't settle after the first wet season.

Keeping It Looking Good

  • Seal new concrete once it has fully cured and re-seal every couple of years to slow freeze-thaw damage.
  • Keep de-icing salts off new concrete through the first winter — they accelerate surface scaling.
  • Keep control joints clear and caulked so water doesn't sit in the gaps.
